An au pair is a young person from a foreign country who lives with a host family to assist with childcare and light household tasks.

1. Age: Typically, between 18 and 26 years old. Other countries may permit being an Au-pair up to 30 through some special program that the have.

2. Visa: Some countries may require a specific aupair visa. 
   
3. Language skills: Some countries require basic knowledge of the host country.
   
4. Childcare experience: Some countries require having some experience working with children, such as babysitting or volunteering.
   
5. Health insurance: Aupairs are typically required to have health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay.

Working hours vary based on host family and host country. Working hours from 15 to 40 hours per week are typical. Contact your host family or check the embassy of your host family to get specific information.

Duration for an Official Au Pair varies and stays between 3 to 12 months are possible. Au-pair work outside of the official program may have shorter duration e.g. a Family may seek someone for 1-2 months.
